All suggestions for introducing
new or for changing/improving existing equipment and protective clothing must
be submitted through your Area Commander/Manager to the Equipment Development
Unit for evaluation and development.
Note: In accordance with In Orders 2000/25, Procurement
of equipment - interim arrangements, no equipment other than that which
is available through ESCAT may be
purchased without the approval of the Equipment Steering Committee.
Suggestions will be evaluated by
the Equipment Development Unit in consultation with relevant specialist areas
to ensure that they meet the NSWFB’s:
· operational needs
· occupational health
and safety requirements, and
· purchasing policies.
The Equipment Steering Committee
is responsible for approving projects to introduce or change operational
equipment or protective clothing.

development of suggestions is shown in the process flow for Introduction/changes
to equipment posted on the Recommended Practices page of Station
Portal.

Operator/ICV Driver, Sydney
Communication Centre
Applications are invited from
Firefighters holding the rank of Qualified Firefighter or Senior Firefighter
for Operator/ICV positions that are or may become available in the Sydney
Communication Centre.
The appointment will be for a
minimum of two years.
Operators are responsible to the
Supervisor for carrying out duties and tasks required to maintain a high
standard of service in call taking, dispatching and notification of incidents.
The position attracts an
allowance of $258.72 per fortnight which is superable.
Appointment will involve an
interview by a selection panel and successful completion of a training course
by the selected applicant. An
information package must be obtained before submitting an application. The application form included in the
information pack must be completed in full.
An eligibility list may be
created for a period of six months for vacancies which may occur during this
period.
