RESTRUCTURE
Executive and Operational restructure
On 15 September 2006, the next stage of the Executive and Operational
restructure will be implemented.
Director Greater Metropolitan Operations and Director Regional Operations
The positions of Director Greater Metropolitan Operations and Director
Regional Operations will become effective on 15 September 2006 and the
positions of Regional Commander South, West and North will be abolished.
Until Area Commanders are appointed in the next stage of the
restructure, interim arrangements will apply for Stations, Zone and Regional
Offices to report through the Deputy Regional Commanders to the Director
Greater Metropolitan Operations and Director Regional Operations.
These interim arrangements are detailed in the document Interim
arrangements during implementation of the operational restructure on the
Intranet.

The new Zone names and boundaries will come into force on 15 September
2006.

Duty Commanders
The position title of Duty Commander for Operational Commanders and

Stationery

228 Station Berkeley Vale hazmat capability
1. Changes to 228 Station
Berkeley Vale’s functions
As part of the restructure of the Hazardous Materials Response Unit
(HMRU), 228 Station Berkeley Vale hazmat response and servicing capabilities
commenced at 0800 hours on 18 August 2006.
2. Response capability
228 Station Berkeley Vale now has the following response capability,
with a minimum staffing level of one Station Officer and five firefighters:

The minimum hazmat qualified staffing is Station Officer and one
firefighter on the Hazmat Pumper and two firefighters on the Heavy Hazmat
appliance.
Revised Pre-Determined Attendances are being entered into FireCAD on an
ongoing basis.
In Orders 2005/18, Response of additional appliances from stations,
applies to 228 Station Berkeley Vale with the following addition:
At stations with dual hazmat appliances, the Station Commanders do not
have the discretion to respond the Hazmat Pump outside the station area. Requests for the Hazmat Pump to leave its
station area must be made through the Newcastle Communication Centre Supervisor
in consultation with the relevant Zone Commander, Operational Commander and the
Hazmat Manager.
3. Services
228 Station Berkeley Vale services include, but are not limited to:
* fill and exchange SCBA
and oxygen cylinders, and
* provide emergency
supplies of hazmat equipment for after hours emergencies
Note: normal exchange of
equipment is to be done at the HMRU Technical Service Centre
All services will be provided in accordance with approved work practices
and recorded in the Quality Management System.
