Four Station Officer Promotional Programs (SOPPs) will be delivered by the Professional Development Unit in 2006. The first of these programs will commence in February 2006, with the remaining programs progressively delivered throughout 2006.
A total of 80 positions will be offered. Selection of participants will be determined by order of merit, based on pre entry test marks.
A pre entry test will be conducted in November 2005 to select the 80 participants for entry into 2006 SOPPs. Eligibility for the pre entry test will be for Senior Firefighters who have completed three years service at that rank at the time of the pre entry test date and who have successfully completed the following modules:

Candidates who have been unsuccessful in previous pre entry tests will be eligible to carry over their marks on one occasion, providing the time frame from one pre entry test to the next pre entry test is twelve months or less. Candidates who are eligible must complete the Election to carry over pre entry test marks form. This form must be returned to the Professional Development Unit seven days prior to any pre entry test being conducted.
Information forums will be available to Senior Firefighters who have submitted an application to sit the pre entry test. These forums are not compulsory and will include learning and information sessions on incident management, leadership/management and pre entry test techniques.
Candidates are also advised to access the bank of SOPP questions (currently version H) and other pre entry test related links on the Professional Development Unit’s section of the Intranet at http://qesu/tvdd/pdu/promoProgram.asp.
A notice will be published in In Orders in August 2005 calling for applications to sit the SOPP pre entry test to be held in November 2005.

This instruction is to be read in conjunction with In Orders 2001/13, Direct supply of general stores to fire stations.
The introduction of a 15 litre insulated container (Esky) for the stowage of bottles of drinking water on appliances has been approved. The Esky will hold 12 x 650 ml bottles. The Esky is to be stowed in the locker currently occupied by the carton of bottled water.
An initial issue is being arranged, so stations will not be required to submit a formal request. It is expected that the initial distribution of the Esky to all stations will be completed by 30 June 2005.
For the purpose of replacement and additional requirements, the Esky has been included in the Direct Supply of Consumable Stores Contract (AE Baker). All stations are to make note of the details listed below and include the information in their Supply Catalogue. The Esky will also be available through ESCAT.
