National Emergency Worker Support Service (NEWSS)

Good afternoon NSWFB Retirees Secretary, I am an Implementation Practice Manager at Black Dog Institute, working on the National Emergency Worker Support Service (NEWSS). NEWSS is a free, confidential mental health support for emergency service workers – both active and retired.

The NEWSS service is made up of three main components:

Online mental health check – a check-in to see how emergency service workers are going and get recommended a range of free specialist support options.

Access up to 12 clinical sessions with our trauma-informed psychologists, free of charge. No Medicare or GP information required.

A range of evidence-based mental health resources, tools and information.

I understand that retired ESWs are often unable to access agency supports and resources, and I am very interested in sharing the NEWSS service with NSWFB Retiree members, so they know this is available to them.

If you, or your members, would be interested to learn more about NEWSS, I am hosting two online Peer Information Session in April: Monday 15th April, 2pm – 2.30pm AEST and Thursday 18th April, 10am – 10.30am AEST

To register to attend a session, please click here

Alternatively, I can set up some time to talk with you more about NEWSS and look at ways we can share the service with your member-base.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Katherine
