Acting Assistant Commissioner Terry Farley hosted a morning tea for retired firefighters at 260 Newcastle Station on 26th February. The event was a great opportunity to share some of FRNSW's latest capabilities and hear some stories from FRNSW's recent and not-so-recent past.

Guests enjoyed an RPAS demonstration from our Aviation Team, displays of the Technical Rescue Vehicle from 357 Lambton, the Compressed Aerial Pumper from 260 Newcastle, the Aerial Platform from 462 Mayfield West, and a tour of the Communications Centre.

In addition to major developments in fleet capabilities, guests noticed significant changes to the station since their time in service. What used to be the engine bay and station now houses the Newcastle Communications Centre, and the fire station is now in a separate building, linked to Comms via the new engine bay.

Guests and current firefighters exchanged stories of their time in service - it was clear that while capabilities and appliances continue to change and develop, the dedication and pride of FRNSW crews past and present remains!
